Detlef is a German attorney with 12+ years of practical experience in the reinsurance sector. Prior to his engagement at AURIGON Advisors AG he acted as a board member and managing director of Alea Services AG in Zug, Switzerland and was Group Head of Reinsurance Claims of the Alea Group. He was responsible for their claims departments in Switzerland, Bermuda, the USA and London, developing a worldwide inspection and commutation strategy. In addition to that he was heavily involved in downsizing the Alea group of companies by way of restructuring, outsourcing, company sale and finally in redomiciling the Swiss reinsurance entity to Bermuda, which was the first transaction of that kind out of Switzerland.
Detlef managed various litigations and arbitrations in Germany, France, Italy, UK and in the USA. He is certified arbitrator of ARIAS US as well as of ARIAS Europe. He started his career in reinsurance as consultant at Chiltington International in Hamburg, where he specialised in exit strategies, inspections of records and management of long-tail claims.
He studied in Freiburg and Hamburg, holds two German State Exams in legal studies, a Spanish master degree in European Law and a Dr. iur in insurance law of the University of Hamburg.

Michael has 13+ years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry. Having gathered first internship experiences at international law firms such as Nörr in Prague and Heller Löber Bahn (now Freshfields) in Vienna, he started his career at Coudert Brothers (now DLA Piper) in Milan. Michael then moved on to work as in-house counsel and subsequently head of Discontinued Business Operations at RAS s.p.a. (now Allianz s.p.a.) in Milan, Italy. Alexander has over 17 years of experience the insurance and reinsurance industry. Prior to his engagement at AURIGON Advisors he worked as senior consultant and project manager at Chiltington International in Hamburg and as management consultant at Horváth & Partners in Berlin. The basis of his rich experience in almost all aspects concerning the organisation of an insurance company was gained as trainee of Volksfürsorge Versicherungen in Hamburg, where he worked as claims manager for motor liability and legal costs (Advocard) before he started underwriting motor and casualty business. His first position in reinsurance was at Hannover Re followed by his career in the consultancy environment.
In his capacity as consultant to many international re-/insurance companies he participated and managed various due diligences as well as reinsurance audits. His experience in underwriting, administration, accounting and claims handling of non-life business within several European countries make him an excellent advisor in business controlling as well as process optimisation, portfolio assessment or the audit of managing agents/cover holders. He frequently deals with the development of exit strategies and problems arising out of discontinued lines of business.
Alexander studied business administration at the University of Hamburg holding the respective master degree and is Versicherungskaufmann, a special qualification given for business administration in the insurance sector. He is fluent in German and English.

Guido has more than 20 years of experience in the reinsurance industry. Having started his career in a bank´s Credit & Legal department before he moved to Union Re in Zurich, where he became a Team Leader for Credit & Surety underwriting and a Member of Senior Management. First steps in a Spanish speaking market were made at Swiss Re in Spain in 1999, where he successfully collaborated in the decentralization of client management and treaty underwriting from Zurich to Madrid and the integration of portfolios of Union Re and Bavaria Re into Swiss Re. As man for special and complex tasks he was sent to Buenos Aires, directing a pension fund Life & Health claims run-off project of a larger scale and became board member of Swiss Brokers Argentina. Guido than moved to France as head of Claims and Liability Management of Swiss Re in Paris being responsible for restructuring of processes concerning claims management, the winding-off of a Swiss Re claims management company, legal matters and contracts & wordings of that entity. He finally went back to underwriting as a Team Leader of Swiss Re´s Credit & Surety department in Zurich, where he, in line with the Credit & Surety downsizing decision of Swiss Re in 2009, developed a concept for discontinued lines of credit and bond business.
Guido´s experience in both worlds of reinsurance – claims management and underwriting of a very special line – is unique in the market. He is partner at the law firm Castellón, Frontaura & Perez, and partner at BFV Liquidadores, a registered and supervised loss adjusting company in Santiago de Chile. Due to his expertise on the loss adjusting side, mainly in property, machinery, construction and liability lines, he knows the Chilean insurance market inside out. Suzanne is an attorney with over 20 years of experience, including 6 years in the legal profession and 15 years in executive positions within the insurance and reinsurance industry. Prior to her current role as a partner with Aurigon, Suzanne served as Vice President of Claims for a Greenlight Re located in Grand Cayman and as Senior Vice President and Head of Office for Alea North America.
She is ARIAS U.S. certified arbitrator and has served on multiple arbitration panels. She has extensive experience with claim audits, and in the areas of healthcare, construction defects, workers’ compensation, general and auto liability, commercial trucking and personal lines. In her early role as a litigator for Travelers/St. Paul, she handled defense of asbestos claims. She has also had extensive experience with MGA’s and TPA’s, TPA contracts, as well as with litigation management, across all U.S. states and in the U.K. Suzanne has been involved in primary, excess, facultative and treaty insurance and reinsurance issues and managed an HR department, Compliance/Regulatory department, as well as Reinsurance Accounting in her role as Head of Office within Alea.
In the late 90’s, Suzanne worked as Claim Consultant for Catastrophic Claims with the Hartford Insurance Group, focusing on the largest workers’ compensation claims, countrywide.
She graduated with Honors from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, with a degree in Psychology; and received her law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Oliver Brandenburg is one of Aurigon´s marine specialist with over 30 years of experience in the insurance market. He combines vast audit and due diligence experience with managerial and underwriting skills.
After finishing school in 1988, Oliver started his apprenticeship at Allianz Versicherungs AG (specializing in Marine insurance early on) which he graduated in 1991.
Following a one-year tour of duty with the German Air Force, he re-joined Allianz as Underwriter for Marine business for the next 14 years.
In 2006 he moved from Underwriting to the newly created Chief Underwriting Office Marine. In his new role he took care of the expansion of Marine business and worldwide offices, set group standards for Marine Underwriting and served as referral partner for business outside of the authority of local Marine Underwriters. When and before local portfolios where to be integrated into the Allianz portfolio, Oliver was conducting due diligence reviews of the local books. Servicing worldwide entities also included the task of conducting regular audits of their books – therefore he has a sound background in auditing.
Oliver is fluent in German and English and works to improve his French and Russian, which he has basic knowledge in.
